WTA star is definitely a big fan of Federer and his…

While Roger Federer’s announcement has sparked intense debate about his future in tennis, Marc Rosset is more concerned about how the surgery will turn out. While speaking on Le Matin, the 50-year-old pointed out how Federer never really felt at ease after his return, making the next procedure even more important. “Can the operation be a success? That is what we are talking about,” said Marc Rosset. “Obviously, this season has been compromised because there is something wrong with his knee. So we saw that he never really played 100% of his chances.” Marc Rosset firmly believes that Roger Federer has opted to undergo a third knee surgery to give himself a chance to make one last comeback and retire on his own terms. “Without a doubt (Roger Federer wishes to retire on his own terms and therefore opted for another surgery),” continued Rosset. “But for Roger, we can even add that in his head, he still has the will and energy to want to continue on the circuit. With, I think, the condition of being able to have more fun and win games.”

Federer hasn’t recovered from his knee injury yet

In a recent interview at the Citi Open 2021, 2-time Grand Slam winner, Victoria Azarenka, revealed the one shot that she would like to incorporate into her gameplay. Intriguingly, Vika chose Roger Federer’s service and also explained the reason for the same. “I think I would take Federer’s serve,” began Azarenka. “Because I think sometimes that it is a bit underestimated how good it is with the accuracy, maybe not necessarily with power where there are other players who are dominating that area but the precision is.” Federer hasn’t played a single match after the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Surprisingly, he didn’t even train himself on the hard-courts and decided to withdraw from the National Bank Open and Cincinnati Masters 2021. It appears that the Swiss maestro hasn’t recovered from his knee injury yet and thus, decided to skip the US Open 2021. He will undergo another knee surgery shortly and will also miss the Laver Cup 2021. Federer announced on Sunday that he would be undergoing a third surgery on his knee after suffering a setback during Wimbledon. He also mentioned that he expects to be sidelined for “many months” after his surgery. Despite not being fully match fit, Roger Federer registered a commendable victory over Dan Evans in his comeback match at the Qatar Open. He also beat the likes of Marin Cilic and Dominik Koepfer at Roland Garros. Federer fared even better at Wimbledon, where he advanced to the quarterfinals before being defeated by Hubert Hurkacz.
