Julien Sale, Tom Vaillant (photo) and Martin Couvra have been chosen to represent the French men’s team at the World Team Championships scheduled from August 31 to September 3 at Golf National and St Nom-la-Bretèche. Oihan Guillamoundeguy, substitute, will be ready in case.
Vaillant, Sale and Couvra
Unsurprisingly, Julien Sale (Saint-Cloud), Tom Vaillant (Cannes-Mougins) and Martin Couvra (Terre Blanche) will defend the colors of the French men’s team led by Benoit Telleria at the World Amateur Championships scheduled in France from 24 to August 27 (for ladies) and from August 31 to September 3 (for men).
Second in the Order of Merit on the Alps Tour, four times second (nine top 10s), Julien Sale, 24, took first place in the qualification for the European Men’s Team Championship in early July. Just a few weeks after his victory at Gounouilhou with Saint-Cloud.
Also on the Alps Tour, Tom Vaillant, 20, won twice on the Satellite Tour in June (Open de la Mirabelle d’Or, Aravell Golf Open). He points to third place in the Order of Merit, just behind his compatriot and partner in the France team, Julien Sale.
Winner of the Maps in the fall of 2021 on the Alps Tour, Martin Couvra, only 18 years old, distinguished himself in May by winning the French International Men’s in Chantilly (60). Oihan Guillamoundeguy, 17, winner in early March in Egypt on the Alps Tour, will be held in reserve.
We remind you that the French ladies team led by Gwladys Nocera will be led by Vairana Heck, Constance Fouillet and Maylis Lamoure. A perfectly rehearsed trio since they have just won the European Girls’ Team Championship in Iceland. Gala Dumez will be the replacement.
The Espirito Santo Trophy is an international golf tournament for amateurs and is played by national teams every other year. The teams consist of three players. The national teams play 4 rounds of 18-hole stroke play. Per round, the scores of the best two players of the team count.
