World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has been drawn to meet qualifier Jana Fett in the Wimbledon first round.
Swiatek, the top-seeded player in the women’s draw, will be taking on Fett, who won three qualifying matches this week to earn a main draw place at The Championships.
Fett, ranked at No. 254 in the world, is set to make her second Wimbledon main draw appearance.
In her Wimbledon debut in 2018, Fett suffered a first round defeat to Daria Kasatkina.
Fett, 25, usually plays the lower-level events as she has never faced Swiatek before.
Swiatek, who hasn’t played any grass events leading up to Wimbledon, is a massive favorite to beat Fett, who is ranked outside the top-250 in the world.
Swiatek hoping to do well at Wimbledon
Swiatek has won her last 35 matches but grass is considered as her weakest surface.
Swiatek will not be looking too far ahead at the start of the tournament as her goal for now is just to get through the opening few matches.
“I think when I’m going to start Wimbledon I’m just going to think about getting through the first matches. I won’t think about the streak because I know it’s not helping me. I did the same here and I know how to separate my mind from that and focus on tennis,” Swiatek said. “But right now for sure, I can think about that a little bit more and I would love to add some matches to that streak. But I feel that chapter is closed for sure for clay season, but also after the Sunshine Double I didn’t really have a lot of time to rest and I really want to rest right now after Roland Garros. Because back then I was like I’ll have three days off, but I couldn’t really stop thinking about the season. Right now I think I will have more time and I really want to do my best at resting.”
Last year, Swiatek reached the Wimbledon last-16 before losing to Ons Jabeur.
