Toni Nadal reveals when he felt Rafael Nadal could be GOAT

Renowned tennis coach Toni Nadal revealed he felt Rafael Nadal could be the greatest player of all time when he completed a Career Grand Slam at the age of 24.

Nadal, 35, is now tied with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on the all-time Grand Slam record list as each member of the Big Three group has won 20 Majors.

“The truth is that when Rafa emerged, you could see that Roger was going to be one of the best in history. As soon as we saw Novak, we realized that he was special. As for Rafa, it was when he completed the Grand Slam, with 24 years, when I knew that he would fight to be the best in history,” Toni said during his appearance on Tres Iguales podcast.

Toni optimistic Nadal will make a successful return

In August, former world No. 1 Nadal called it a season due to a persistent foot injury.

Toni remains confident that Nadal will overcome the injury and return stronger in 2022.

“In any case, he is optimistic and I think he will get over this once again. I am optimistic and my feeling is that 2022 may be a good season for him and that he has 2 or 3 good years left, but as time progresses everything is more complicated,” Toni added.

Recently, Nadal underlined he was determined to make a successful comeback in 2022.

“I’ve known better, but I’m fine,” Nadal said with a smile, per Tennis Majors. “My foot still hurts a bit. It’s been a difficult time. My goal is to get better, knowing that at some point I’m going to have to face difficult and painful stages. But I have to go through them to put myself back in a position to fight for what I want. I am determined to make it happen.”
