Stefanos Tsitsipas signs up to return to Rotterdam in 2022

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas has signed up to play Rotterdam in February, per Michal Samulski.

Tsitsipas, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world, is set to make his fifth main draw appearance in Rotterdam.

Tsitsipas enjoyed his best Rotterdam run earlier this year, when he made the semifinal before losing to world No. 5 Andrey Rublev.

Previously, the Rotterdam organizers confirmed the participation of world No. 2 Daniil Medvedev.

The Rotterdam organizers have done a great job so far, securing two of the world’s top three players for next year’s event.

Tsitsipas thinks he was destined to play tennis

“Tennis is my passion and is something that I always wanted to be professionally involved with,” Tsitsipas said recently. “It’s great, you know. Everyone has their goals, and everyone has their own aspirations of what they want to become in life. Sometimes it can get difficult: Lots of traveling, lots of staying in hotel rooms and stuff. But there is a lot of excitement behind all of this, there is a lot of a thrill that comes with it.”

Tsitsipas insists he is extremely grateful to be making a living out of what he loves.

“I don’t feel many players feel grateful: Some players have said they do it for financial reasons, other players say they do it because they have nothing else to do, or tennis chose them most importantly,” Tsitsipas said.

Tsitsipas’ family has always been a big part of his tennis path.

“I would describe it as like: I guess I was destined to play tennis and I don’t see myself doing anything else. I have accepted that, my family has been involved in tnat and that is one more thing to be grateful for. I’m very happy to have met all of you guys and still have those interactions with you. You make the sport better as well,” Tsitsipas said.
