World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas has signed up to play Marseille in 2022, the tournament announced on Wednesday.
Tsitsipas, 23, is set to make his sixth appearance on the indoor-hard courts of Marseille.
Tsitsipas has enjoyed success in Marseille in the past, having won it all at the tournament in 2019 and 2020.
This season, Tsitsipas failed to win a third consecutive Marseille title after suffering a shock loss to Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the quarterfinal.
Tsitsipas is the fourth player confirmed for Marseille as Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jannik Sinner are also expected to play.
Tsitsipas ready for the Indian Wells
Tsitsipas, seeded at No. 2, is excited to be back in the desert.
“Hey everyone, Stefanos here, guys it’s exciting to be back. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been back here. Please come support me, show some love, this week, next week, and all the time being here. It’s such a beautiful tournament to be competing in. Being back in Indian Wells just gives me good vibes. Support me and let’s make this a hell of a ride,” Tsitsipas said in a message posted on the tournament’s Twitter account.
Tsitsipas was a part of Team Europe that beat Team World by a 14-1 score.
“This experience is so extraordinary, with two incredible captains and players that are willing to give everything for this event. I feel privileged to be standing where I am at right now and to be learning from the best — that happens to be my teammates,” Tsitsipas said after victory.
Recently, Tsitsipas revealed he’s planning to take the COVID-19 vaccine before the year ends.
“It will certainly happen this year,” Tsitsipas said in an interview with Antenna TV.
Asked if he would get vaccinated so that he could get back to a normal social life, Tsitsipas responded: “Yes, this is the reason.”
