Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep admits she is an introverted person but reveals she is feeling absolutely comfortable when around her new coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
Last month, Halep announced Mouratoglou as her new full-time head coach.
In February, Halep asked Mouratoglou if he was interested in working with her.
After speaking with Serena Williams, Mouratoglou decided to accept Halep’s offer.
Mouratoglou accompanied Halep for the first time in Madrid.
Halep is having a great campaign as she has been through to the Madrid quarterfinal without a dropped set.
“I’m very introverted in general, but with him, I feel comfortable, and I feel like he really appreciates my game, the way I am. It’s easy to communicate. It’s easy to explain what I’m going through during, before and after the matches,” Halep said, per Mario Boccardi.

Halep overcomes Cori Gauff
On Monday, Halep handed a 6-4 6-4 loss to rising American star Gauff in the Madrid round-of-16.
No break points were seen until the ninth game, when Halep realized her first break point to take a 5-4 lead.
In the following game, Halep routinely served out for the first set.
Gauff bounced back at the start of the second set as claimed an early break and led 4-1 after the opening five games.
After a strong start to the second set, Gauff suffered a collapse as Halep broke the American in the seventh and ninth games to win five games iin a row – overturn the deficit – complete a straight-set win.
“I think I played very well in the first set. When I stayed super focused at 4-All, that was really important … that was the difference,” Halep said after the match, as quoted on the WTA Tour website..
“The second set, she changed the tactics and she was super, super aggressive. It was really tough to return the balls, but then I just calmed down and I found the rhythm. I adjusted myself to her game, and in the end, it was super good that I could actually push her back a little bit.”
Halep plays next Ons Jabeur.
