Ons Jabeur: “I am always inspired by Rafael Nadal”

During an interview for the official website of the Masters 1000 in Madrid, Ons Jabeur praised Rafael Nadal as an exemplary boy both on and off the court.

Ons said: “Rafael Nadal has always been a role model for me. He has collected extraordinary numbers on this surface, while I would be content to win even just one title here in Madrid. Rafa is a fantastic guy both on and off the court, I hope he has the opportunity to play for many more years.”

Speaking to Eurosport, Mats Wilander criticized Rafa’s programming: “I was convinced that he would miss both Indian Wells and Miami, especially after winning the Acapulco tournament. He pushed his body over the edge.

If he had given up on Indian Wells, he would have had a full month to train on clay. It is not the first time that Nadal has exaggerated. He loves tennis and competition so much that he always wants to be on the court, especially in moments of great confidence.”

The Mutua Madrid Open will sanction the return of Rafael Nadal to the ATP Tour. The former world number 1 got off to a brilliant start to the season, winning the Australian Open against all odds. Fresh from a long stop due to injury and arrived in Melbourne without great expectations, the Spanish phenomenon has achieved one of the most unexpected feats of his entire career.

Triumphing Down UnderĀ for the second time, the 35-year-old from Manacor climbed to 21 Majors by overtaking Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the all-time rankings. The Iberian has also become the fourth man in history to have won all Grand Slams at least twice (along with Djokovic, Rod Laver and Roy Emerson).

Rafa sustained a stress fracture in a rib during the Indian Wells semi-final against Carlos Alcaraz, so he will have only two tournaments available to regain his form for Roland Garros.
