‘Novak Djokovic wasn’t vaccinated last year but…’, says analyst

Novak Djokovic received the support of Robert F. Kennedy, J.F.K.’s nephew, in his attempt to participate in the US Open despite not being vaccinated. “Get into action! Tell the Biden Administration to let Djokovic play at the US Open,” tweeted Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. tweeted on July 28. Along with his tweet, Kennedy attached a link to a petition in support of Novak Djokovic’s participation in the US Open. “In short, Djokovic poses no risk to public health: his participation is good for the game and he shouldn’t have to give up his principles to compete. The US Open is willing to let Djokovic compete. Don’t let tyranny stop him,” reads the conclusion of the message that precedes the signing of the petition. According to the description on the website of Children’s Health Defense, a company chaired by Robert Kennedy, “Kennedy is an esteemed author, with a long list of published books, including the New York Times bestseller, “Crimes Against Nature”. Mr. Kennedy was named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet” for his success in helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River. His reputation as a strong advocate for the environment and children’s health is due to a litany of successful legal actions. He received recognition for his role in the historic victory against Monsanto last year, as well as in the DuPont Affair that inspired the movie “Dark Waters” (2019).” US Senator Marsha Blackburn calls it “absurd” that Novak Djokovic cannot visit the United States due to his vaccination status. Djokovic, 35, has not been vaccinated against COVID-19 and cannot enter the United States, as international visitors must present proof of vaccination. As it is, Djokovic is very likely to miss this year’s US Open.

Seth Dillon on Novak Djokovic’s saga

The latest to come forward in support of Novak Djokovic is news website The Babylon Bee’s CEO Seth Dillon. He argued that if the 21-time Grand Slam champion was allowed to play last year without getting the vaccination, there’s no reason to ban him this time. “Djokovic played in the U.S. Open last year, in 2021. He lost in the finals to Medvedev. He wasn’t vaccinated. Why in the name of almighty science can’t he play this year?” Dillon tweeted. After winning his seventh Wimbledon title last month, Djokovic once again specified his stance on the issue. “I’m not vaccinated and I’m not planning to get vaccinated, so the only good news I can have is them removing the mandated green vaccine card or whatever you call it to enter the United States, or exemption. I don’t think exemption is realistically possible. If that is possibility, I don’t know what exemption would be about,” Djokovic said.
