Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has confirmed that he is preparing for the Diriyah Tennis Cup and World Tennis League as he is excited about putting on a show and “securing the bag.”
Kyrgios, 27, will be competing at the Diriyah Tennis Cup in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, between December 08-10.
Then, Kyrgios will travel for the World Tennis League in Dubai – scheduled to take place from December 19-24.
“Saudi Arabia and Dubai is all that’s left, you know I gotta get the bag (cash bag emoji),” Kyrgios wrote on his Instagram story.
Kyrgios set to debut at the Diriyah Tennis Cup
The inaugural Diriyah Tennis Cup took place in 2019.
Due to the pandemic, the Diriyah Tennis Cup wasn’t held in 2020 or 2021.
“At the end of my outstanding season 2022 I’m excited to play at the Diriyah Tennis Cup. I’m looking forward to getting to know the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and especially to having fun with the other players and showing the fans some really entertaining tennis,” Kyrgios said.
In Riyadh, Kyrgios will be joined by some of the biggest names of the game such as Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Andrey Rublev, Dominic Thiem, Cameron Norrie and Stan Wawrinka.
“As the host of international tennis stars, the Kingdom continues to show its excellence in hosting international sports events, which has made it home to various sports, including this event – in which international stars will participate – that we are happy to organize. The 2019 Diriyah Tennis Cup achieved great success which attracted thousands of fans from the Kingdom and abroad, and in this edition, we look forward to continuing these accomplishments and watching great competitive games in historic Diriyah, in the presence of fans of tennis, a sport that is highly popular in the Kingdom,” Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, sports minister and chair of the Diriyah Season Committee said.
