Nick Kyrgios said it was interesting to experience playing two matches in one day as he was glad that he and Thanasi Kokkinakis were able to win their first Atlanta Open doubles title.
Earlier on Sunday, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis defeated Rajeev Ram and Jack Sock 6-4 6-7 (7) 10-2 to progress into the Atlanfa final.
In the Atlanta doubles final, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis beat Jason Kubler and John Peers 7-6 (4) 7-5.
Kyrgios, 27, is now an Atlanta champion in singles and doubles.
In 2016, Kyrgios won the Atlanta singles title after beating John Isner in the final.
“Obviously Atlanta is a special place. Won the singles title here [in 2016] and now the doubles. Crowd’s amazing and it was a new experience playing two matches in one day as well for a title,” Kyrgios said, per the ATP website. “Me and Kokky were pretty resilient and obviously no singles this week, but confidence is at an all-time high in doubles.”

Kyrgios was scheduled to play in the Atlanta singles tournament as well but pulled out due to a knee issue.
After winning the Atlanta doubles title, Kyrgios is expected to return to singles action at this week’s Citi Open in Washington.
