American tennis player Jack Sock has signed up to represent Team World at the Laver Cup.
Sock, 29, is set to make his fourth Laver Cup appearance.
Sock participated in the inaugural Laver Cup edition, which was held in 2017.
Sock also featured in the 2018 and 2019 Laver Cup editions but he wasn’t at the event in 2021.
Sock now joins a Team World that features Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz and Diego Schwartzman.
At the Laver Cup, which is scheduled to take place between September 23-25, Sock will be going up against Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
Sock excited to return to the Laver Cup
The Laver Cup wasn’t held in 2020, while Sock didn’t compete at the event last year.
Team World is captained by American tennis legend John McEnroe and Sock is thrilled to be a part of the team once again.
“Laver Cup brings out the best in me, and I can’t wait to get out there again with the guys and play my part for Captain McEnroe,” Sock said, per the Laver Cup website. “I missed playing last year, I just love this event and I’m hoping I can again bring home the points for Team World.”
Sock is considered as one of the best doubles players in the world and McEnroe is happy to have the American on his team.
“Jack is a versatile and supportive team player who relishes the fast-paced, exciting atmosphere at Laver Cup,” McEnroe said.
“He’s one of the best doubles players in the world, and in singles, he’s capable of pulling off huge upsets as we saw in Geneva. He brings out the best with whomever he teams with in doubles and can handle the intense pressure. It’s no secret that he could be key to pulling off an upset in London.”
