Henrik Stenson managed to win the LIV Golf Invitational Bedminster on his debut. Stenson showed the quality and everything that makes him such a great player. Matthew Wolff and Dustin Johnson had no chance against Stenson, who goes home with the trophy.
“I guess we can agree I played like a captain,” Stenson joked in a post-round interview., as quoted by thenationalnews.”It’s been a good first week obviously. Nice to be here with the guys getting a feel for it. It’s been a busy 10 days and I’m extremely proud I managed to finish as well as I did.”
There was also a lot of pressure, but it was obvious that he believed in himself and his qualities and deservedly won. Stenson has shown that he will be a big threat to his competition.
“It’s been a good first week, obviously. Nice to be here with the guys and getting a feel for it,” said Stenson.
“It’s been a busy 10 days and I’m extremely proud that I managed to focus as well as I did. It was a bit wobbly coming home. We haven’t finished the deal in a couple of years with any wins, so it’s always a little added pressure when you’re up in contention.”
The main motive for LIV Golf
Stenson surprised many a few months ago when he admitted that his main motive was money. Most people don’t want to publicly admit that fact, but Stenson has no problem with that.
“I’ve been a golf professional since very late 1998 and purse sizes, prize money on offer, financial part’s always been a part of where we made up our schedules and where we are going to play,” Sweden’s Stenson said.
“It’s been a part of it, absolutely. It was no different in this case.”
The following challenges will be an additional motivation for him to continue at the same pace.
