Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra, new great promise

Eugenio López-Chacarra (Madrid, March 22, 2000) already had a golf club in his hands at the age of three. With 22 and his degree in Finance and Psychology from Oklahoma State on his resume, he has become a professional starting his path at LIV Golf, the circuit financed by Saudi Arabia that has shaken the foundations of this sport and that by 2023 has announced that it will pass from eight tournaments to 14 plus an agreement with the Asian Tour for eleven or twelve more tournaments in the so-called International Series. In total, a whopping 705 million in prizes to distribute in a year. The man from Madrid, who has signed for three years for an unofficial amount of between 12 and 15 million just for playing, makes his second appearance this weekend at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster (New Jersey) and hours before he talks with ACE.

Eugenio López-Chacarra, statements

“It’s special because after two months with a hip injury I feel good again. I go calmly, without generating great expectations, but being with my body 100% recovered it is much easier to compete. The course is quite complicated: long, with deep rough, hard greens… it will be a good test and I’m really looking forward to it. In my debut I was in the middle of the table individually and I was able to help my team through two rounds.

“I’m very happy. For example, on the last day in Portland I played Mickelson. I also have a team in which we are all very good friends. I have known Sergio (García) for a long time and then with Carlos (Ortiz) and Abraham (Ancer) I have a very good relationship. We talk a lot, we laugh and we play jokes… I learn a lot and I am very grateful to LIV for the opportunity and for everything they have done for me. It has changed my life, I am learning a lot improving as a golfer.

“I had decided to stay one more year of College because the PGA Tour only gave me six tournaments and since I wasn’t in a hurry I decided to do Oklahoma a favor and continue improving as a player. I am number two, although in reality I am number one because there is a Japanese who only plays in his country and it is a bit strange, but they call me from LIV Golf and they make me a proposal for my ranking. With my manager and my father we answered with a high offer with the intention of closing in a medium term… and they accepted it. There are things in life that cannot be rejected. It is a life changer for me, for my family now and for my future family. They assure me that I play golf for three years, which is what I like the most, learning from great names in this sport with victories on the PGA Tour, majors… I am delighted and I recognize that golf is played differently with life solved, really. . I wake up thinking about golf and that’s how I spend the whole day. In the amateur world I have achieved everything and now I have to prove myself in the professional world”.
