The DP World Tour starts for the new 2023 season, as usual in advance of the calendar year, just four days after the conclusion of the previous one. Two events scheduled from 24 to 27 November: the Joburg Open in South Africa, organized in collaboration with the Sunshine Tour, and the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship in Australia, with the support of the PGA of Australia. Four blues in the race: Renato Paratore, Francesco Laporta and Lorenzo Scalise in the first tournament and Andrea Pavan in the second.
DP World Tour 2023, schedule
On the path of the Houghton GC, in Johannesburg, the Joburg Open, now in its 15th edition, inaugurates the DP World Tour calendar. The South African Thriston Lawrence, 26 years old on December 3, defends the title. of Netspruit, two titles on the continental circuit and one in the home one, who will try to give an encore successful only to compatriots Richard Sterne (2008, 2013), who will be on the field, and Charl Schwartzel (2010, 2011) absent. In the race Renato Paratore, Francesco Laporta and Lorenzo Scalise with the aim of a flying start that would give the right morale for the future.
The South Africans, in a preponderant number, will be the favorites and, in addition to Lawrence, they will also be able to count, among others, on Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Wilco Nienaber, Brandon Stone, Daniel Van Tonder, Tristen Strydom, Jaco Van Zyl, Zander Lombard, Hennie Du Plessis, Hennie Otto, two Italian Open for him (2008, 2014), and on three past winners: Darren Fichardt (2017), Haydn Porteous (2016) and George Coetzee (2014).
In the field also the Welsh Rhys Enoch, the Brazilian Adilson Da Silva and the Greek Peter Karmis, all with a successful career in South Africa, the Dane Joachim B. Hansen (his title in 2020), the British Dale Withnell, Matthew Southgate and James Morrison, the French Clément Sordet, the Spanish Angel Hidalgo, the Canadian Aaron Cockerill and the Swedish Simon Forsstrom, who inaugurated the ‘card’ for the tour obtained with the success in the Qualifying School in Spain. The prize pool is 17,500,000 rand (approximately 980,000 euros).

Andrea Pavan has chosen Australia for his debut in the new season and will be in the field of the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship at the Royal Queensland GC in Brisbane.
Spotlights on Australians Adam Scott, a successful career, and Cameron Smith, world number three, and on New Zealander Ryan Fox, number two in the DP World Tour 2022 ranking, who will play together in the first two rounds. Scott, winner of a Masters (2013) and twice of this event (in 2013 and in December of 2019), will have on the occasion two caddies, Greg Hearmon and Steve Williams (alongside Tiger Woods from 1999 to 2011), who recently returned with the Australian after a previous experience.
