Daniil Medvedev reveals how golfing with Ana Ivanovic, Bastian Schweinsteiger went

Daniil Medvedev revealed his first golf experience was quite painful even though Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ana Ivanovic made their best effort to explain the Russian the proper golf technique.

During this year’s grass season, Medvedev competed in Mallorca.

While in Mallorca for the tennis tournament, Medvedev met former Grand Slam champion Ivanovic and her husband Schweinsteiger.

Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger took Medvedev to a golf course, where the Russian had a chance to test himself in a different sport.

“I was doing not bad for the first time, trying my best. He showed me the grip and everything, but I was starting to feel a blister on my big thumb. Ok, well, a blister, it doesn’t matter much. I hit the next shot and my skin rips off. No blood but meat, only meat left!” Medvedev said during a conversation with the Erste Bank Open, per TENNIS magazine.

Medvedev wins it all in Vienna

In the Vienna final, Medvedev defeated Denis Shapovalov 4-6 6-3 6-2.

For Medvedev, it was a second consecutive deep run during this year’s indoor-hard swing.

In early October, Medvedev made the Astana Open semifinal before an injury forced him to retire to Novak Djokovic.

In Vienna, Medvedev clinched his spot for the ATP Finals.

After deep runs at the Astana Open and Vienna, Medvedev is aiming to do well at the Paris Masters and ATP Finals.

“I like to play indoor hard courts at the end of the season. I feel that I do a great job with my team not to arrive burnt out. I am looking forward to the last two tournaments of the year which are really important and I usually play well,” Medvedev said.

Last year, Medvedev made back-to-back finals at the Paris Masters and ATP Finals – but ended runner-up on both occasions.

Also, Medvedev helped Russia win the Davis Cup Finals last year – but they won’t have a chance to defend their title after the ITF banned Russia from this year’s Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

It remains to be seen how will Medvedev play this year in his final two tournaments of the season.
