Novak Djokovic reached the final of the Italian Open 2022, obtaining his 1000 career victory in the semifinal against Casper Ruud. Djokovic will meet Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Rome final.
Djokovic has the extraordinary ability to net-hydraulicize Ruud’s tactical plan in every way. The Norwegian then takes more courage from the baseline at the start of the second and tries to hold on to the score with everything he has available.
The final 6-4 6-3 is practically a logical consequence and responds quite well to all the hows and whys.
Djokovic thus reaches his twelfth final at the Foro Italico (5 titles) and enters a collision course with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek talent gets rid, not without difficulty, of the 2017 edition champion Alexander Zverev.
For the Greek it will be the first final at the Foro Italico: after the victory in Monte-Carlo, not exactly the worst way to present himself at Roland Garros.
