The series of awards from the ATP Tour to players continues, but there are also prizes for the tournaments organized during the 2021 season. To the tennis players of the Tour have been asked to vote for their favorite competitions during the year, choosing one event per category (ATP Masters 1000, 500 and 250).
The result of the total survey was disclosed in the past few hours and the events that most affected the athletes were discovered, based on the organization, reception and other important factors.
The pause between one year and another is always an interesting moment for tennis, certainly seen from another point of view: in this phase it is time for individual balances for the individual players, for the ATP instead almost the task of highlight the best performances of tennis players and give due credit to the most fascinating competitions that have taken place over the last few months.
As for the Masters 1000, Indian Wells won the prize: after skipping 2020, the Californian event is back on the tour in great shape and could not fail to remain etched in the minds of tennis players.
Almost considered a fifth Grand Slam in a number of respects, the tournament reconfirmed and won this award for the seventh time. The 2021 edition held many surprises, given that in the final the English and then winner Cameron Norrie and the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili faced each other.
In the ATP 500 it was Austria who prevailed with the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, which was lucky enough to host many top 20: on that occasion the talented Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner showed all their talent, pushing until the semifinals.
However, Sascha Zverev triumphed, regulating the American Tiafoe in the final act. The last winner was the ATP 250 in Doha in Qatar, not new since it is the fourth time to be chosen by the athletes. This year it was Basilashvili who won, beating Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the final.
