World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty insists that keeping it simple is the secret behind her success.
Barty, 25, has had a big 2021 campaign and she is hoping to win the US Open and achieve another big success this season.
Barty has made six finals this year and captured five titles.
Barty has enjoyed success over the last two months, winning Wimbledon and making it all the way at the Cincinnati Masters.
Surprisingly, Barty has never made it past the round-of-16.
That could very easily change this year as Barty is the top favorite to lift the US Open crown.
“Keeping it simple. It’s enjoying my tennis, going out there and playing with freedom. It’s being really clear with tactically how I want to play. Then it just comes down to execution,” Barty said, per Tennis Majors.
Barty praised by Jil Teichman and Angelique Kerber
In the Cincinnati Masters final, Barty handed a 6-3 6-1 loss to wild card Teichmann.
After the final, Teichmann dropped a big praise on Barty.
“I didn’t serve very good, so that’s the only thing I’m, like, Okay, what if I would have served out better like I did this week and put her into more problems?” Teichmann wondered.
“But Ash is a really, really complete player. She’s an exceptional No.1. I really have to say that.”
A round earlier, Barty beat former world No. Kerber.
“You know, I think she has so much confidence right now. She plays so well, and she served good. I think this is also a big weapon from her,” Kerber explained. “You know, she’s just playing really like tricky, as well. She know where to put the ball and how to play in the moments where it’s really important. “So I think the whole game of hers is really tough, and, you know, that’s why she’s there where she is.”
