Ana Bogdan drops major praise on Emma Raducanu ahead of Cluj clash

Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan reveals she finds Emma Raducanu’s US Open victory as inspiring.

Raducanu, 18, made tennis history at this past US Open as she became the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam.

Raducanu won a total of matches over three weeks at the US Open — all in straight sets — to win her maiden Grand Slam title in a stunning fashion.

Today, Bogdan is set to face Raducanu at the WTA event in Cluj-Napoca.

“Of, course, even to me [what she did was inspirational],” Bogdan said, per Tennishead. “I said to myself that everything is possible, everything is achievable if you work hard and if you believe, if you are positive, you can do it.

“It’s very important to have the right attitude, this is what I admired when I watched her: the focus, her shots, and the way she behaved.

“For me she was an inspiration, I think for many girls out there too. She is a great athlete and a great champion, I’m looking forward to the match.”

Bogdan not the only Romanian player to praise Raducanu

Earlier this week, former world No. 1 Simona Halep also spoke extremely highly of Raducanu.

“I think she won thanks to her attitude, the way she behaved the whole tournament. That smile and that innocence on her face. I think that was the key. She always kept a positive attitude no matter the score, she was there, but positively. That helped her a lot. What she achieved is unbelievable,” Halep said. “And it’s all credit to her because she played so well and she played so many matches. “I think her mentality was very strong and also her game. She played great tennis, very fast, very close to the baseline and I think the movement also was great. “She has already won a Grand Slam title and I think she is able to achieve everything. Now she has the experience of winning the biggest tournament in tennis.”
