Alex de Minaur in awe of Novak Djokovic’s level: With this form he is winning AO

Alex de Minaur said he felt Novak Djokovic delivered “a faultless performance” against him and noted the Serb is definitely winning the Australian Open with this level.

In the Australian Open round-of-16, Djokovic gave no chance to de Minaur as he destroyed the Australian 6-2 6-1 6-2.

Djokovic is a record nine-time Australian Open champion and de Minaur suggests there is no stopping of this in-form Djokovic.

“Ultimately these are the matches I want to play. Maybe I’m being very hard on myself right now, but it did seem like I played a pretty faultless Novak today. I could be wrong. I could then look at the match and see what I could have done better to expose him in any way, shape or form. The feeling I’ve got just walking off the court is that I played a pretty high-level Novak, which I feel like if he has that level, he will win another title here. That’s my thoughts,” de Minaur said, per the Australian Open website.

De Minaur noted he will have to learn from the Djokovic defeat

De Minaur, 23, was aiming to make his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open.

But against Djokovic, de Minaur stood no chance.

However, de Minaur tried to look at the positive side but noted that he will have to do some good analysis with his team.

“There’s definitely positives out there. Now it’s just about forgetting what happened out there today and moving on ’cause ultimately in this life you’re going to have a couple of these performances, nights, days, where things just don’t go your way. There’s plenty of them. If you take it too hard, then it’s going to linger for a while. You’ve got to get ready for the next week,” de Minaur said.

De Minaur was playing against Djokovic for the first time in his career and it wasn’t a match that he will remember for good.
