NASCAR Cup Series teams will finally start taking inventory of the Next Gen chassis later this week.
Officials confirmed Monday that initial chassis delivery would begin after speaking with an independent panel of experts last week. NASCAR was “pleased” with those discussions as they pertained to data on the car’s safety.
Rumors about the car began circulating following a crash test on June 30 at Talladega Superspeedway. Next Gen was fitted with a dummy and controlled by a robot to gather information, and NASCAR shot down the rumors by telling teams on July 4 the car “indicates good and comparable performance.”
The Next Gen will debut in with the Daytona 500 on Feb. 20, 2022.
