Manchester Storm: Contract and injury update, the Mancunians have released news regarding two of their players.
Veteran Contract Extension
Manchester Storm announce a contract extension to a veteran player and give update on horrifying injury.
Experienced Netminder Jason Bacashihua has extended his stay in the North of England after signing in November.
Having made eight appearances for the Storm since then, putting up a .900% save percentage and a 3.03 GAA.
Not bad numbers for a 39-year-old in his first season in the EIHL.
This extension came as a result of an injury to Matt Ginn, described as a lower body injury.
In a statement online the club have said: “Ginn has reaggravated the lower body injury that side-lined him previously. The extent of Matt Ginn’s injury is yet to be confirmed, as the netminder will be assessed during the week”.
In more serious injury news for the Manchester-based side they have provided an update on Ben Wilson.
The Defenceman was badly hurt in the Storm’s game against the Cardiff Devils and was left bleeding on the ice.
The lack of action from the referees left fans disgraced.
I get a referee can’t please everyone, but endangering player safety is a disgrace.

Another fan believes this to be a bigger issue than just this one game.
Horrendous officials holding the league back, nothing new there mate.

In a statement from the club, they said: “Despite pools of blood forming on the ice and requests from the home bench to halt proceedings – in order for Wilson to receive the necessary medical attention – play would continue with the stricken blueliner (Defenceman) unwilling to quit on his shift”.
Wilson was discharged from hospital early on Sunday and will have further scans.
We’ve seen previously how seriously hurt players can get, this raises questions surrounding player welfare.
A combination of the sharp skates and heavy contacts can cause serious long-term injuries.
We don’t need reminding of the incident with Clint Malarchuk in the NHL over 30 years ago.
Wilson’s injury wasn’t as serious as Malarchuk’s but if it had been who’d be to blame?
