Spain has already clinched a berth in the next round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers but will play three more games to complete the round-robin schedule of Group G before moving on to Group L.
Jonathan Barreiro (Unicaja), Ferran Bassas (Joventut), Dario Brizuela (Unicaja), Quino Colom (AEK), Alberto Diaz (Unicaja), Dani Diez (Hereda San Pablo Burgos), Jaime Fernandez (Unicaja), Fran Guerra (Lenovo Tenerife), Xabier Lopez-Arostegui (Valencia), Joel Parra (Joventut), Jaime Pradilla (Valencia), Sebas Saiz (Alvark Tokyo), Miquel Salvo (Gran Canaria), Yankuba Sima (Baxi Manresa), and Santiago Yusta (Casademont Zaragoza) were called up for the approaching international window. Tyson Perez (MoraBanc Andorra) will also be available in preparations, as noted in the press release of FEB, the Spanish Basketball Federation.
The team coached by Virtus Segafredo Bologna boss Sergio Scariolo will host North Macedonia in Zaragoza before visiting Georgia and Ukraine over the first week of July. It will be looking to improve on its current 3-0 record and on the W-L tally carried over to the next round.
Presumably powered by other players and shifting to Group L, Spain will play two more games in late August to start the second round, the final set of games leading to a potential berth in the 2023 World Cup. In a quick turnaround following those Qualifiers, La Roja will compete in the 2022 EuroBasket colliding with Bulgaria, Georgia, Belgium, Montenegro, and Turkey in Tbilisi. The top four teams of the final standings of Group A will advance to the knockout stage in Berlin.
