Ludwigsburg keeps 39-year-old Tremmell Darden

MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg has re-signed Tremmell Darden for the next season, the German team announced Wednesday.

Darden, 39, will debut in the Basketball Champions League through his second campaign stationed at Ludwigsburg. His first season produced 7.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 steals per appearance in Germany’s easyCreditBBL.

“It’s an honor for all of us to welcome back Tremmell Darden as a player and as a person,” noted John Patrick, head coach of the German side, “He’s a natural-born leader, a winner.”

The California-born guard/forward has been playing in Europe every single year since completing his NCAA run at Niagara in 2004. He has made his way to 88 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games and also logged 20 appearances in the 7DAYS EuroCup, before shifting now to the BCL.

Zalgiris, Real Madrid, and Olympiacos are among his former teams. Besides Lithuania, Spain, and Greece, his career has traveled him to Turkey, Belgium, and France. He landed in Germany for the first time in 2018 spending two seasons at SYNTAINICS MBC.

David Walker, James Woodard, and Jonathan Baehre, and youngster Eduard Roschnafsky have been added by Ludwigsburg this summer. Apart from Darden, Yorman Polas Bartolo, Jordan Hulls, Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann, Lukas Herzog, Johannes Patrick, Jacob Patrick, Oscar da Silva, Jonah Radebaugh, Paul Minjoth, and Nico Santana Mojica are the returning players.

American head coach Patrick will be leading his side in Group A of the Champions League Regular Season. Teams to beat, Lenovo Tenerife, Dinamo Sassari, and one more side surviving the qualifying rounds.
