Gilboa Galil upsets Maccabi Tel Aviv

Hapoel Gilboa Galil came back from an early 10-point deficit to take down Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, 87-83, on Sunday.

Sacha Killeya-Jones put his mark on the Winner League Regular Season Round 2 with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Ronnie Harrell and Michael Brisker contributed 14 points apiece. London Perrantes added a 14-point, 10-assist double-double.

The team coached by Giannis Sfairopoulos on the heels of the first double-game week of the 2021-22 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season failed to hold on to the 10-point lead built in the first quarter. The hosts bounced back from the 23-13 deficit, stayed close, and got the job done with a 4-0 run in the last 42 seconds initiated by a couple of free throws sank by Harrell.

Roman Sorkin filed a team-high 16 points in the losing effort. Scottie Wilbekin, Derrick Williams, and Mathias Lessort sat out the game along with Ante Zizic. Both teams are now 1-1.

A 2-0 start was launched by Hapoel U-NET Holon, also packing a 1-0 record in Group G of the Basketball Champions League, with the win, 85-73, opposite Ironi Hai Motors Ness Ziona. Former Houston Rockets player Chinanu Onuaku packed a 21-point, 15-rebound double-double in his latest dominating performance starring for Bnei Ofek Dist Herzeliya in the win, 88-79, over Hapoel Yossi Avrahami Eilat. He also dished out five assists as his side jumped to 2-0.
