Fenerbahce has a deal with Wilbekin, showing strong interest in Jekiri

Scottie Wilbekin is moving to Fenerbahce with a multi-year contract, after the Turkish club has agreed to cover the buyout of the player to Maccabi Tel Aviv, as per Eurohoops sources.

Only medicals are pending before the announcement of Wilbekin’s move to Fenerbahce. Earlier this week, the new Fenerbahce head coach confirmed the talks and the progress has been rapid.

Wilbekin, 29, averaged 15.4 points, 4.1 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per EuroLeague contest, plus 13.3 points, 3.8 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game in the Israeli Winner League.

Besides the addition of Wilbekin, Fenerbahce is also showing strong interest in Nigerian center Tonye Jekiri, who spent the 2021-22 season with UNICS Kazan.

Jekiri, 27, had a solid impact, adding rebounding might on his team with an average of 7.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 24.5 minutes across 24 EuroLeague games last season, while he posted season averages of 7.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 22.2 minutes stretching across 20 VTB United League games.

Fenerbahce’s done deal with Wilbekin was first reported by SportTV’s Levent Yavuz, and confirmed by Eurohoops sources.
