Olympiacos was looking for one last major piece to complete the roster for the upcoming season and was set on bringing over David Lighty from ASVEL, however, the two clubs couldn’t reach an agreement and the forward will stay with the French champions.
There was no fixed buy-out included in the player’s contract that lasts until 2024 and, although the clubs were close to a deal, everything changed following Lighty’s great run in the French League postseason and earning the Finals MVP.
The 33-year-old averaged 11.3 points while shooting 35% in threes, along with 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 33 EuroLeague games this season.
